You should take the 6 pills of Cytotec / Misoprostol according to the instructions.
First Dose
Place under your tongue and at the same time 4 pills of Misoprostol (Cytotec – 200mcg). Keep them there for at least 30 minutes. After those 30 minutes, you must swallow the pills that are dissolved.
Second Dose
4 hours after the first dose, you must take a second dose of Misoprostol (Cytotec – 200mcg). This time you will have to place, at the same time, the 2 pills under your tongue. Swallow the dissolved pills 30 minutes later.
Don’t take Misoprostol vaginally
Placing Cytotec vaginally is a popular method, however this method is less effective than the sublingual one. Besides, it may involve a number of risk as those we mention next:
- The absorption of Misoprostol through the vagina is much slower. In some cases, it might take 4 days until the pills get completely dissolved.
- When the bleeding starts, it is usual that the pill that has been inserted into the vaginal route end up sliding out of the vagina . As a consequence, the dose that gets absorved by the organism is quite inferior to what really takes to end a pregnancy. Therefore increasing the risk of having a failed abortion.
- In case you need medical assistance (very rare cases), the Cytotec that is still inside the vagina and that hasn’t dissolved yet will be a visible sign that proves you tried to have an abortion.

Hi I swallowed 2 pills with water and inserted 2 pills in abt half and hour I started experiencing cramps and nausea and running tummy after abt 11 hours when I went to the toilet to pee then I noticed slight bleeding every time I pee only..did the pills work

The right thing is to wait about a week after taking Cytotec and having a vaginal ultrasound to make sure if the abortion was successful, and if there is no traces of the pregnancy left.

Hello, I am really worried because I have taken the medicine in wrong way and also I didn’t fast during the procedure. I have consumed 12 tablets in set of 3. First four were wrongly swallowed but next dose it keep four tablets under my tounge for 30 min before swallow. And after four hour I keep the the last 4 pills out of 12 under my tounge and then spit out. And there are 17 hours has-been passed away but I don’t have any unusual feeling except a little fever and flu like symptoms. Please guide should I repeat the process or wait and see.???

Hi ..i did the abortion 2 weeks bck …dey gave me 4 pills to put under my tongue..and one pill to suck .i did it it wasnt dat painful for the firts two days ..was just bleeding..one week after i started having terribe cramps till today im im a little bit stressed is der something wrong because im still bleeding but not too much and now da blood is liter dan b4 …but da cramps are now too much
