Ít is important to get an ultrasound before you carry out your abortion. An ultrasound scan allows to find out how far along you are in your pregnancy and also to discarrd the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy (that develops outside the womb).
Fasting properly is crucial as well. When done correctly, it will increase the chances of a successful abortion. If you take the pills on a full stomach, the chances for you to feel nausea and end up throwing up will be high.
If you vomit, it is highly likely that you expel the pills you took, and that can make the abortion fail. Our suggestion is that you fast for at least 6 hours before taking the pills. After ingesting the drug, fast again for 6 more hours.
We also advise you to use light clothes that can be easily put on and removed. Make sure you always have sanitary towels at hand and to have an easy access to a bathroom
You need to place under your tongue and at the same time, 4 pills of Misoprostol (Cytotec – 200mcg). Keep them there for at least 30 minutes. After those 30 minutes, you must swallow the pills that are dissolved. You can swallow the saliva, just do not spit it.
4 hours after the first dose, you must take a second dose of Misoprostol (Cytotec – 200mcg). You must place 2 more pills at the same time under your tongue. Wait until the pills dissolve and, 30 minutes later, swallow them as you did in the first dose. You can swallow the saliva, but do not spit it.
Cramps should be felt in up to 4 hours after taking the drug. Bleeding might occur as well and, in some cases, this bleeding can take 12 to 24 hours to happen.

Instructions for using Cytotec
After having taken the pills of Cytotec / Misoprostol, you should expect cramps and a non-continuous bleeding during 1 to 2 weeks. This bleeding usually resembles to the one that happens during a menstrual period, although it can also be more intense.
This bleeding is usually formed by bleed with different textures and colors ranging from bright red to a brownish tone, even looking like cofee grounds. The woman might even be able to see tissues that, visually, are quite similar to the liver or to any other spongy tissue.
Cramps differ from woman to woman, but if you feel they are becoming unmanageable, we suggest you to use a hot towel to soothe the pain without having to take any medication.
Some of the side effects may be: sickness, nausea, diarrhea, headache, pain in your feet, intense cold and temporary fever.
How long will the bleeding last?
You will need to control your anxiety after the abortion. To find out if the abortion worked or not, it will be necessary to have an ultrasound. We recommend that you to wait for, at least, 5 days to get an ultrasound because during that period of time, bleeding might still occur.
The ultrasound can show you if the abortion was successful (the embryo does not develop anymore) or if it failed (the pregnacy continues).
It is also possible to take a pregnancy test (from the pharmacy ot blood tests), but only after a period of 3 to 4 weeks after taking the medication.
Sir I missed my periods by 15 days and taken Misoprostol but still my periods have not come. I have not taken pregnancy test. What to do now?
Hi,
