A medical abortion is a very smooth and safe process when done according to given instructions and when necessary precautions are taken. If your question is: “Can I have an abortion?”…
…then the answer is yes, as long as you don’t have limitations as the ones we show below:
It is possible to have a safe medical abortion as long as you don’t present some restrictions.
You can’t perform a medical abortion with Misoprostol (Cytotec – 200mcg) if:
- Someone is forcing you to have an abortion;
- You are not sure you really want to interrupt your pregnancy;
- The first day of your last menstrual period was more than 12 weeks ago;
- You are allergic to Misoprostol (Cytotec – 200mcg) or to prostaglandins;
- You have of one of the following diseases: chronic failure of the adrenal glands (severe hepatic impairment), diseases or bleeding disorders (coagulopathy or anticoagulant therapy), hereditary porphyria (it is highly unlikely to have one of these conditions without even knowing);
- You have any inflammatory disease or if you suffer from dehydration;
- You have frequent diarrhea for example, due to conditions such as Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis or irritable bowel syndrome;
- You had a stroke or mini-stroke;
- You have an intrauterine device (IUD). It must be removed before using the pills;
- You have an ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy that develops outside the uterus)
- You can’t get to an hospital in less than an hour;
- You’re alone. You should ask a partner, friend or to another person you trust to stay with you while you are taking the medication.
If you don’t have any of the impediments we mentioned above, then you can perform your medical abortion as peacefully as possible.
You can carry out a safe medical abortion up to a maximum of 12 weeks of pregnancy. We do not advise the medical abortion in a longer period of time due to the high risk of complications such as:
- Fail of the abortion process
- Haemorrages
